Lazy Susan
Musée du Quai Branly
Commissioned by the Quai Branly Museum in Paris, the film was part of the exhibition “Séductions du Palais / Cuisiner et manger en Chine.”
“Lazy Susan” is a video installation exploring Chinese cuisine, tableware traditions, and the passage of time. The concept was to develop a choreography by drawing a parallel between the mechanism of a clock (the evolution of time) and the rotating turntables used in Chinese dining. The installation takes the form of a kinetic sculpture composed of numerous circular elements —turntables, plates, dishes, bowls, and more— each spinning on its axis at different speeds, creating a perpetual and hypnotic movement.
