Family Shade

Installation

Family Shade is a metaphorical representation of our relationship with the media in daily life. We have become consumers of virtual worlds, captivated by their omnipresence and hypnotic, alienating power. Whether through television, smartphones, tablets, or computers, these mediums draw us in and demand our constant attention.

The installation consists of three distinct spaces: a living room, a dining area, and a child’s bedroom. Each space is devoid of human presence, with the only hint of life emanating from the flickering light changes on the screens, symbolizing the pervasive influence of media.

This installation was originally created for the exhibition 2062 at La Gaîté Lyrique in Paris in 2012. One of the three modules was later presented at MU Hybrid Art House in Eindhoven in 2013 and at Ratskeller, Cercle Cité in Luxembourg in 2016.
